Club Boats
At CYC we have a variety of club boats all meeting different needs

Project Name
The RS Vision is a sailing dinghy created by RS Sailing and designed by Phil Morrison for two crew members. It can, however, be sailed by a larger crew or be single handed. It is sailed at many clubs around the world. An owners club and events circuit is established. The RS Vision is a good boat for training with plenty of room for two trainees and an instructor while being stable. The boat is fitted with the Gnav kicker system, leaving the cockpit uncluttered and free. It can be equipped with an A-symmetric spinnaker system which the club has done. Primarily used for adult beginner courses and advanced modules.

Project Name
The RS Feva is a two-person sailing dinghy designed by Paul Handley in 2002. It is manufactured and distributed by RS Sailing. There is the RS Feva S and the RS Feva XL (race varient). The RS Feva is an International Sailing Federation (ISAF) International Class, a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Supported Junior Class. At the club it is mainly used for kids beginner courses as well as double handed club racing. There has been significant club investment in new sails for the fleet as well as other improvments. They can be equipped with A-symmetric spinnakers.

Project Name
The Laser Pico dinghy is a small sailboat designed by Jo Richards in the mid-1990s and used primarily for training. It can be crewed by one or two children or an adult. The club uses the Pico primarily for adult and kid beginners to gain single handed experience. The club purchased new vertical battened dacron sails as seen in the above photo.

Project Name
The Laser (ILCA) is a class of single-handed, one-design sailing dinghies using a common hull design with three interchangeable rigs of different sail areas, appropriate to a given combination of wind strength and crew weight. Ian Bruce and Bruce Kirby designed the Laser in 1970 with an emphasis on simplicity and performance.
The Laser is a widely produced class of dinghies. As of 2018, there were more than 215,000 boats worldwide. It is an international class with sailors in 120 countries, and an Olympic class since 1996. Its wide acceptance is attributable to its robust construction, simple rig and ease of sailing that offer competitive racing due to tight class association controls which eliminate differences in hull, sails, and equipment, the key pinnacles of the class with a 1970s boat being identical to a boat made today.
The boat itself remains unchanged but is officially referred to as the ILCA Dinghy, due to a trademark dispute when the boat was called a Laser. The club uses our lasers for race coaching as well as racing. It is the sailboat which most of our past and present national and international sailors competed in.

Project Name
The Topper is an 11 foot (approx. 3.3m) 43 kg (95 lb) sailing dinghy designed by Ian Proctor. The Topper was a one-design boat until 2023 when a new version was produced, and is sailed mostly around the British Isles. It was recognised as a World Sailing Class. Over 49,000 have now been sold. The club uses Toppers for race training and racing as well as an introduction to single handed sailing for kids. We have had numerous sailors get medals and win Topper Travelers and RYA NI Youth championships in this class.

The club does not own any keel boats, however during the year there are opportunities to sail a keel boat such as the commodores regatta where our keel boat owners do a day of keel boat experiences for members. If you would like to find out more about our club boats, please contact us.
